Order of Adjectives
Did you know there is a correct order of adjectives? If English is your first language, you may naturally understand the order of adjectives when describing a noun; however, this skill needs to be taught and reviewed for students who are acquiring English-speaking skills. This week, students in Ms. Johnson's class reviewed adjectives and how to use them properly. The students used their five senses to describe twelve different objects and then wrote sentences using the correct order of adjectives. To end the activity, the class wrote a dynamic sentence using synonyms of the adjectives they first recorded. What an engaging and active lesson for all!

Adult Education in Indiana
This week, Assistant Director Denise Esslinger had the unique opportunity to attend the 2023 Annual Legislative House Republican Reception at Barnes & Thornburg in downtown Indianapolis. This event provided time for individuals to interact with key policymakers in a closed, relaxed setting. Ms. Esslinger spoke with multiple House Members, including Speaker of the House Todd Huston, Representative Jeff Thompson, Representative Ethan Manning, and Majority Caucus Chair Greg Steuerwald. Ms. Esslinger thanked the legislators for supporting adult education and for the funding increase in the last approved budget. Indiana is a leader in adult education, and the additional funding allows the programs across the state to grow and serve more community members.
