Staff Professional Development
Last Saturday, Warren Adult and Continuing Education staff participated in professional development. Activities included a gallery walk of classroom agendas, competitive games of CUPS to model how instruction builds up and out, and breakout sessions focusing on targeted instruction and understanding the adult learner. Thank you to the PDF Team for planning a day enjoyed by all. New HSE Graduates
Congratulations to Colton Collins, Trina Perkins, Yolanda Mogaji, Jhosselyn Pelayo, and Dave Barnes (not pictured) for earning the HSE diploma. Colton plans to pursue his CDL certification, and Trina is grateful for all the encouraging words from the staff. Yolanda stated, "Warren helped me so much. I struggled with my education all my life, but everything changed when I enrolled and met my teacher, Mr. Shaw. I found the help I needed." Jhosselyn also thanks Mr. Shaw for his help and patience. Dave felt that everyone's kindness and support made him feel at home and relaxed. Warren ACE will celebrate with these students at the graduation ceremony on June 13.Success Story
Jonas Jean began attending class with Warren ACE in November 2022. He improved his English skills and earned his HSE on August 29, 2023, and his CCMA credential on February 8, 2024. Please read his story below.
"I am from Haiti. It is my pleasure to share my path with you. I left my country in January 2022 with my family because of political problems. For better integration into my new life, I thought enhancing my English would be more useful than all other things. Then, I met someone who had spoken to me about Warren Adult Education. I was excited because it was close to my house, around 12 minutes away.
When I came to Warren Adult Education, I was very excited by the staff's kindness and professionalism. Ms. Marcia introduced us to the English language with pronunciation, rhythm, grammar, and other aspects of the language. Ms. Brenda was exceptional because she plunged us into the depths of the tongue. She never stopped working to make sure students completed their lessons and homework.
At Warren Adult Education, my capacity grew because we still had homework to do and used Burlington English to enhance learning. The audio-visual and interactive methods used at Warren were interesting and were fundamental to any foreign language learning. Digital skills must be strengthened to better understand the English language.
My short-term goal was to become a medical assistant, and I needed to pass the HiSET exam. Thanks to the professionalism of teacher John Shaw, I nailed the exam in a short time. He has a great capacity to motivate students to go further. He makes copies for students; he’s very patient, enthusiastic, and always ready to help.
To conclude, I want to thank Warren's staff who worked so hard to help me accomplish my short-term goals, which were to enhance my English and start a career."
