Active Learning and Targeted Instruction
Students in Mr. Parra's class practiced new vocabulary by identifying common buildings around the community and stating the location of the building. Then they had to give directions to get from one location to a second location. Instruction also included using prepositions correctly. Even though many rely on Google Maps and Waze, it is important to understand directions to travel from place to place. "La Plaza"
This year Warren Adult and Continuing Education transformed the former media center into a space where much can occur. Named "La Plaza", the space is where students can register for classes, work on Burlington English or Essential Education, and receive small-group instruction. At designated times, the space will be used for post-testing. The open space is full of activity each day.New HSE Graduates
Congratulations to Brianna Gray, Algina Johnson, Gesner Sinois, and Kendall Winston (not pictured) for being among the first students this program year to achieve their HSE! Both Brianna and Algina were grateful to the program for helping them achieve their goal and encouraging them never to give up. Gesner stated, "I found success because of the solid training that I received from this school. The level of teaching here is very practical and useful." The future is bright for these graduates.
