ABE Orientation
This week new students completed orientation for the ABE program at Highlander Park. Students begin the registration process by visiting the Warren Adult and Continuing Education website. When students arrive, they learn about the program and take three pre-assessments over two days. Once students complete testing, they will join an ABE class and begin improving their academic skills as well as take the steps needed to earn their high school equivalency. 
ELL Classes in Full Swing
After an incredible orientation for the ELL program last week, classes are full of new students ready to learn. ELL Classes are offered from 9:00 AM to noon or 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday. Students in the ELL program attend class on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Targeted instruction, digital literacy skills, and speaking skills are included during class. To inspire students, one of our ELL teachers posts a daily motivational quote that students view the minute they walk into the classroom. Together...#WarrenWill help students reach their goals.
Indiana Latino Expo Mayors Breakfast
On Wednesday Natalie Rueter, Director, and Shawndra Hamilton, IET Manager, had the privilege to attend the Indiana Latino Expo Mayors Breakfast at the Willows Event Center. The event focused on how cities embrace the cultural heritage of Latino community members and support Latino businesses. Workforce development plans that have been created to harness native Spanish-speaking workers were also shared. The ILE Executive Director, Gloria Jimenez, Mayor Joe Hogsett, and Rafael Sanchez were all in attendance.
